Khartoum, 4 August 2026 (SUNA) – The Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries discussed with a FAO advisory mission the preparation of Sudan’s proposal for the ninth cycle of the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP), with the participation of senior ministry officials. The ministry’s Undersecretary Dr. Ammar Al-Sheikh Idris emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership with FAO and praised its growing role in supporting Sudan’s efforts to rehabilitate and develop the livestock sector and enhance its capacity for sustainable development. He stressed the need to prepare an integrated proposal that reflects the sector’s actual priorities and meets the program’s requirements, including targeted food security projects in dairy and meat production in Khartoum, Sennar, and White Nile states to improve livelihoods among beneficiary communities. The FAO mission discussed the technical aspects of developing an implementable proposal aimed at increasing production and productivity, optimizing value chains, strengthening food security, and improving the income of small-scale producers.BH/BH
