Amman, July 29 (Petra) — Minister of Transport and Labor Nidal
Qatamin and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah met
with representatives of the shipping, logistics, customs clearance
and business sectors on Wednesday to agree on urgent measures to
improve the flow of goods through Aqaba Port and the Kingdom’s border
crossings.

Discussions focused on ensuring the continuity of supply chains and
transit traffic, particularly through the Karameh Border Crossing
with Iraq, in light of current regional conditions.

Participants reviewed the main operational challenges affecting
import, export, and transit activities and agreed on a package of
measures to remove obstacles and accelerate cargo movement.

They stressed the need to expedite customs clearance and inspection
procedures, reduce vessel waiting times at Aqaba Port, and shorten
container dwell times to improve logistics efficiency, lower costs
for importers and exporters, and strengthen Aqaba Port’s
competitiveness as a regional trade and transit hub.

The two ministers also emphasized continued coordination between
government entities and private sector institutions and pledged swift
executive measures to address any obstacles affecting cargo movement,
ensuring the uninterrupted flow of goods and maintaining the
readiness of Jordan’s transport and logistics system to meet current
demands.
