Saudi Arabia’s Voluntary Carbon Market Fuels the Shift to a Low-Carbon
Amman, Oct. 11 (Petra) – The Ministry of Labor announced 2,778
families have moved off the National Aid Fund (NAF)’s financial
assistance rolls, following the provision of sustainable job
opportunities for their members through the National Employment
Program since mid-2022.
In a statement Sunday, the ministry spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud
stated the program continues to achieve “tangible” results in
boosting the labor market participation of target groups.
He noted that a total of 61,580 subsidized employment contracts were
concluded as women securing 31,565 of the total figure, representing
51.2%, which reflects the program’s commitment to women’s economic
empowerment.
Regarding the breakdown of beneficiaries, both individuals and
private sector companies, by region, Zyoud indicated that the
Kingdom’s Northern Region saw 21,302 individuals and 597 companies
benefit from the opportunities, while the Central Region recorded
34,462 beneficiary individuals and 985 companies.
In the Southern Region, he said 5,816 individuals and 289 companies
benefited.
He also noted that the total number of establishments registered with
the program has risen to 3,766, spanning various economic sectors and
activities.
On training and capacity building areas, Zyoud said 53,190 employees
received training in job-related skills, while another 11,527 took
training in workplace skills and occupational health and safety, in
cooperation with the Vocational Training Corporation.
He emphasized that these efforts contribute to enhancing employment
sustainability and workforce development.
As part of efforts to introduce the program’s services and strengthen
networking across various sectors, he noted that the program
management conducted 6 introductory activities and meetings last July
across most of the Kingdom’s governorates.
He said these initiatives aimed to expand partnerships, enhance youth
readiness for the labor market, and introduce them to available
opportunities and career paths.
