Amman, June 14 (Petra) — The national football team is entering the
final stretch of preparations as excitement builds ahead of its
opening match against Austria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The encounter, set for early Wednesday morning Jordan time at the San
Francisco Bay Arena in the United States, will mark a historic moment
as Jordan begins its first-ever World Cup appearance.

Under head coach Jamal Sellami, the squad has intensified its
training load, blending tactical work with physical conditioning
during a camp in Portland. The full squad took part in the latest
session, which also attracted strong international media attention,
reflecting the significance of Jordan’s debut on football’s biggest
stage.

The team is now traveling to San Francisco, where final preparations
will continue. On Monday, players will meet the media at a pre-match
press conference before holding their official training session in
the evening at a nearby venue, with journalists observing key parts
of the workout.

Al-Nashama has been drawn into a challenging Group J alongside world
champions Argentina, competitive Algeria, and Austria, an experienced
European side and their opening opponent.

After facing Austria, Jordan will continue its group-stage journey
against Algeria on Tuesday, June 23 at 6:00 a.m., before concluding
its campaign with a high-profile clash against Argentina in Dallas on
Sunday, June 28 at 5:00 a.m. All match times are scheduled according
