Amman, Oct. 1 (Petra) — The Jordanian Nursing Council (JNC) and the
United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA)
concluded an emergency care training program Thursday, providing 25
agency employees with practical skills in first aid, cardiopulmonary
resuscitation and crisis response.
The specialized program combined hands-on simulation with training in
CPR for different age groups, the use of automated external
defibrillators (AEDs), and emergency treatment of bleeding, burns and
fractures. Its opening day coincided with World Heart Day.
JNC Secretary-General Hani Nawafleh said simulation-based training
can strengthen healthcare workers’ practical skills and speed of
response in emergencies, while improving the quality and safety of
services provided to beneficiaries.
He said the council is seeking to broaden its institutional
partnership with UNRWA and expand professional training and
development programs.
Nawafleh and UNRWA Director of Health Akihiro Seita also discussed
future cooperation in primary healthcare, reproductive health,
emergency response and modern training programs, in the presence of
agency officials responsible for hospitalization and nursing
services.
Seita said cooperation with the council has expanded to include
personnel across UNRWA’s five fields of operation: Jordan, Lebanon,
Syria, the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
The practical first aid and CPR sessions were delivered by JNC
Clinical Simulation Supervisor Tahani Khalil.
The program also included specialized training in psychological first
aid and crisis response, delivered by University of Jordan Professor
of Mental Health Ayman Mansour.
The session focused on early psychological support, recognizing cases
that require specialist referral and incorporating mental health
support into emergency response.
Nawafleh presented certificates to participants at the conclusion of
the program and said the council would continue developing
specialized training initiatives.
