Amman, June 24 (Petra) – Oasis500, an entrepreneurship and venture
capital platform affiliated with the King Abdullah II Fund for
Development, and venture capital and investment advisory firm SM
Capital signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen
investment links between the Mediterranean, the Middle East and North
Africa (MENA), Europe, and global technology ecosystems.
The agreement, titled “Building the Mediterranean-MENA Digital
Capital Bridge,” establishes a framework for co-investment,
investment opportunity flows, engagement with limited partners and
institutional investors, and the development of innovation and
entrepreneurship ecosystems.
On its goals, the initiative seeks to build “stronger” institutional
connections among capital providers, founders, and innovation
platforms operating across the regions.
Talking at the signing ceremony, Oasis500 Chairperson Suhair Al-Ali
said the company has spent more than 15 years supporting regional
entrepreneurs by connecting founders with capital, networks, and
market-access opportunities needed to scale their businesses.
She said SM Capital’s European institutional network, global market
connections, and technology investment expertise would help create
“stronger” links between MENA, Europe, the Mediterranean, and Silicon
Valley.
As for their significance, Al-Ali added that such partnerships could
attract investment, accelerate startup growth, and strengthen the
region’s position in the global technology landscape as its
innovation economy continues to mature.
In turn, SM Capital Founder and CEO Stiven Muccioli said innovation
ecosystems increasingly compete through connectivity and integration
rather than geography alone.
Muccioli said the next phase of venture capital development across
the Mediterranean and MENA would depend on deeper institutional
relationships to connect investors, founders, and innovation
platforms across markets.
The partnership aims to develop a more integrated investment corridor
linking Europe, the Mediterranean, and MENA while expanding access to
capital and global expertise, he added.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the fourth Marrakech
Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf
Regions in Morocco.
