Oman Airports Records 9% Growth in Passenger Traffic in April 2025

Muscat,
13 May (ONA) — Oman Airports announced growth in air traffic and passenger
numbers across the Sultanate of Oman’s airports during April 2025, with
passenger numbers rising by 9% and aircraft movements increasing by 6% compared
to the same month in 2024.

Oman
Airports affirmed that this growth reflects ongoing efforts in the aviation
sector to enhance passenger traffic through Oman’s airports, underscoring
sustained momentum in air travel, particularly at Muscat International Airport
and Salalah Airport.

According
to official statistics, the total number of passengers traveling through Oman’s
airports in April 2025 reached 1,163,163, compared to 1,066,942 in April 2024.

Muscat
International Airport was the primary driver of this growth, with passenger
numbers rising from 947,449 in April 2024 to 1,039,208 in April 2025,
constituting a 9.7% increase.

Salalah
Airport also recorded positive growth, with passenger numbers climbing from
109,844 in April 2024 to 118,390 in April 2025, marking a 7.8% rise. This
signals a promising tourism season, especially with the approaching Khareef Dhofar
(monsoon season), which attracts large numbers of visitors due to the
governorate’s unique natural climate.

Authorities
concerned anticipate continued growth in passenger numbers in the coming
months, supported by tourism events and promotional initiatives that enhance
Oman’s position as a leading regional travel destination.

Oman
Airports revealed that it has begun implementing plans to streamline
operations, enhance passenger experience, improve commercial performance, and
attract more international airlines to Muscat International Airport and Salalah
Airport.
