Oman E-Sports Team Secures Third
Place in Asia, Qualifies for FIFAe World Cup in Rocket League

— The Sultanate of Oman’s national e-sports team achieved a remarkable
milestone at the FIFAe Continental Cup 2026 – Asia for the Rocket League
discipline, concluding the tournament in third place before clinching the
playoff match and securing qualification for the FIFAe World Cup 2026.

Oman’s campaign commenced in the
FIFAe Nations Cup 2026, which featured three rounds of qualifiers across the
West Asia region. The team delivered outstanding performances throughout the
qualifying stages, accumulating sufficient continuity points to secure its
berth in the continental championship and maintain its place among Asia’s elite
national teams.

The Omani squad comprised Sultan
Al Balushi, Nooh Al Mahmoudi and Abdullah Al Amri, under the leadership of
Dutch coach Overmeer. The trio represented the Sultanate of Oman in the Rocket
League competition, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 21 to 23 August 2026.

The team successfully advanced
through the group stage and progressed to the knockout rounds, continuing its
impressive run with a commanding 4–0 victory over India in the quarter-finals
to reach the semi-finals, where they ultimately fell to Australia by a 4–0
scoreline.

In the third-place playoff, Oman
staged a resolute comeback, securing a comprehensive 4–0 win over hosts
Malaysia to claim the bronze medal and third place overall in Asia, while also
earning the opportunity to compete for a World Cup berth through the playoff
round.

The national team subsequently
faced New Zealand in a decisive qualification playoff match. Oman secured a 4–2
victory, thereby officially sealing its place at the FIFAe World Cup 2026 in
the Rocket League discipline.

This achievement represents the
culmination of the team’s journey, which began with regional qualifiers and
continued through the continental championship, ultimately earning a spot on
the global stage. The Omani national team continues to assert its presence in
international competitions, adding another distinguished accolade to the
Sultanate’s growing record in e-sports.
