Oman Reviews Japan’s Experience in Developing
Agricultural Sector
Tokyo, 6 October 2026 (ONA) — A delegation
from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources is currently visiting
Japan within the contest of ongoing technical cooperation between the Ministry
and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
During the visit, the Ministry’s
delegation was briefed about the latest technologies, practices and experiences
that Japan implements in the agriculture sector. It also discussed ways to
benefit from Japan’s experience in developing the agriculture sector in the
Sultanate of Oman.
The Omani delegation also showcased investment
opportunities available for Japanese investors and companies in the Omani agriculture
sector.
At the outset of the visit programme,
the Ministry’s delegation held a meeting with Asila Nasser Al Kiyumi, Ambassador
of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan. The meeting discussed ways to transfer the
Japanese knowledge, technologies and expertise to the Sultanate of Oman.
The Ministry’s delegation also outlined
promising opportunities that abound in the Omani agriculture sector, factors
that could make Oman an attractive destination for Japanese investments and mechanisms
for consolidating partnerships between the public and private sectors in a manner
that supports efforts to achieve food security and economic diversification.
The visit programme includes a
number of meetings and field visits to Japanese institutions, projects and
companies (specialized in the sector of agriculture) with the aim of learning
about modern experiences and technologies. The programme also seeks to expand opportunities
for cooperation, discuss areas of cooperation, transfer knowledge and define the
investment opportunities available in the Sultanate of Oman in a way that encourages
the establishment of Omani-Japanese partnerships.
