Oman Takes Part in Inaugural
Session of 80th UN General Assembly
New York, 23 Sep (ONA) — The
Sultanate of Oman participated in the opening proceedings of the 80th session
of the United Nations General Assembly, which commenced at UN headquarters in
New York today.
The session brings together heads
of state and government, delegation leaders, and representatives of
international and regional organizations.
The Omani delegation was led by Sayyid
Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister.
This year’s session convenes
against a backdrop of complex international and regional dynamics, with a
substantive agenda addressing critical issues including international peace and
security, sustainable development, and human rights. Delegates will also
examine pressing global challenges ranging from armed conflicts and
humanitarian crises to climate change and economic and technological
transformations.
The session is expected to
facilitate comprehensive discussions on strengthening multilateral cooperation
and coordinating international efforts to develop practical solutions to
contemporary challenges, ultimately contributing to enhanced global security,
stability, and sustainable development for all nations.
