Youth Handball Team Loses to Chinese Taipei in Asian Championship
Zhuzhou,
22 July 2026 (ONA) — The national youth handball team concluded its
participation in the group stage of the 19th Asian Youth Handball
Championship—held in the Chinese city of Zhuzhou and serving as a qualifier for
the World Youth Championship—with a 41–26 loss to Chinese Taipei at the end of
group play.
With
this result, the national team finished its first-round campaign and moved to
the 9th-to-13th place classification matches, where it will face the Qatari
team next Saturday in its opening match of the tournament’s second phase.
The
national team had sought to achieve a positive result at the end of the group
stage; however, Chinese Taipei established control throughout the match, ending
the first half ahead 18–12 before widening the margin in the second half to
seal the victory.
The
national team is continuing its preparations for the classification matches in
an effort to wrap up its Asian participation in the best possible manner and
benefit from the continental experience the tournament has provided to its
players.
