Amman, June 11 (Petra) –Jordan Customs Department (JCD) has
reinforced its staff at Omari Border Crossing in preparation for the
summer season and the return of expatriates.

This process aims to streamline and expedite procedures through a
flexible system for handling passengers and cargo, ensuring smooth
traffic flow at the border crossing.

This measure comes in response to a “noticeable” increase in the
number of arrivals and departures and cargo traffic.

According to statistical data for entry and exit operations last
month, a rise is recorded in the volume of traffic through the
center.

JCD, in cooperation and coordination with security and regulatory
agencies operating at the center, processed transactions of more than
350,000 travelers, over 120,000 vehicles, and over 50,000 cargo
trucks.

The department said deployment of additional staff is part of a
“comprehensive” plan to enhance operational readiness and provide the
“best” services to travelers, investors, and the transport sector,
while maintaining the highest levels of customs and security control.

In a statement, JCD Director General Ahmad Akalik stated the
department “continuously” monitors traffic indicators at border
crossings and takes “proactive” measures to address any anticipated
increase in passenger and cargo volumes.

This vision, he noted, ensures “smoother transit and reduced” waiting
times, particularly during the summer season, which sees increased
activity and the return of many expatriate Jordanians.

The department commended the efforts of all the crossing’s security
and regulatory agencies, adding that interagency cooperation and
coordination contributes to providing “high-quality” services that
reflect the Kingdom’s civilized image and enhance operational
efficiency at border posts.
