Palestinian Prisoner Dies in Israeli Jail After Cardiac Arrest, Family Told

Ramallah, June 14 (Petra) — Palestinian prisoner Imad Sarhan on
Sunday died in Gilboa Prison following a cardiac arrest, Israeli
occupation authorities notified his family, without details on the
circumstances on death or his medical condition.

Sarhan, 47, was from Haifa and had been held since 2001, serving a
life sentence.

In a joint statement, Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ Affairs
and the Palestinian Prisoners Society said Sarhan suffered
prolonged, harsh interrogations and systematic torture during the
early years of his detention.

The statement added that these conditions left lasting and serious
damage on Sarhan’s health, steadily worsening his condition
throughout his years of imprisonment.
