Amman, July 1 (Petra)– The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on
Wednesday launched a nationwide environmental campaign under the
slogan “With the Spirit of the Nashama… Jordan is More Beautiful,”
as part of efforts to promote environmental awareness, encourage
responsible public behavior, and preserve the cleanliness of public
spaces, tourist attractions, and natural sites across the Kingdom.
The campaign was launched at the directive of PSD Director Maj. Gen.
Obaidallah Al-Maaytah, underscoring the importance of environmental
protection as a key component of comprehensive national security and
reaffirming the directorate’s national and community role in
safeguarding the country’s resources and preserving its civilized
image.
The PSD said the initiative aligns with the objectives of the
executive program for Jordan’s National Cleanliness Strategy and
efforts to reduce littering, while reinforcing the principles of
environmental sustainability, protecting natural resources, and
strengthening national and community responsibility toward the
environment.
The campaign aims to raise environmental awareness among all segments
of society and reduce harmful practices that negatively affect public
spaces, public health, and safety, particularly in forests, woodland
areas, and public parks, which are vulnerable to fires and
environmental damage caused by irresponsible behavior. The
directorate stressed the importance of strengthening community
partnerships to protect these areas.
As part of the campaign, the PSD will implement a range of awareness
programs, community initiatives, and media campaigns highlighting the
dangers of littering, promoting environmentally responsible behavior,
and encouraging public participation in protecting tourist
destinations, natural reserves, streets, and public facilities.
The directorate emphasized that protecting the environment is a
shared national responsibility requiring the combined efforts of
institutions and individuals, as well as a culture of commitment and
civic responsibility to help maintain a safe, clean environment that
reflects Jordan’s positive image.
The PSD also called on citizens and visitors to actively engage with
the campaign and help spread its awareness messages, stressing that
protecting the environment begins with individual awareness and daily
behavior, and that preserving Jordan’s natural beauty and resources
is a collective responsibility shared by all.
