Amman, Jan. 20 (Petra) – The Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said that the Cyber Crimes Unit has been monitoring posts on social media platforms and websites that specialize in spreading content aimed at inciting discord, stirring sectarian tensions, and attempting to undermine national unity while inciting and defaming components of Jordanian society.
The PSD spokesperson confirmed that the unit has started monitoring and tracking the content across all platforms and websites and pursuing the individuals responsible for publishing such content. Several individuals have been arrested and will be referred to the judiciary.
He also mentioned that many fake pages were detected, created specifically for this purpose, and have been posting content that incites division and harms societal cohesion. He urged everyone not to be drawn into these posts, not to follow, share, or comment on them.
The spokesperson stressed that there will be no leniency or tolerance toward anyone attempting to incite division or harm national unity, and under no circumstances will the fabric of national unity be compromised. “Legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to undermine unity and incite harmful sectarian tensions that contradict the norms and laws of our society,” the PSD spokesperson affirmed.
