Doha, June 01 (QNA) – Qatar’s ports handled more than 73,000 standard containers in May, marking a 44% increase compared with April, according to figures released by Mwani Qatar.
In a post published on the social media platform X on Monday, Mwani Qatar said container traffic rose significantly during the month, reflecting strong growth in maritime trade activity across the country’s ports.
The company also reported that bulk cargo volumes exceeded 48,000 tonnes during May. Meanwhile, nearly 20,000 head of livestock were processed through the ports.
A total of 100 vessels called at Qatar’s ports during the month, representing an 8% increase from April, the statement added.
The latest figures highlight continued momentum in Qatar’s maritime sector, with rising cargo volumes and vessel traffic underscoring the strategic role of the country’s ports in supporting trade and supply chains. (QNA)
