Fighting Rages Across Sudan as Diplomacy Gains Momentum

Khartoum,
14 Sep 2026 (ONA) — Fighting fronts in Blue Nile State and the Kordofan and
Darfur regions have witnessed an escalation in military operations,
encompassing ground clashes and airstrikes, as efforts to advance dialogue and
halt the war in Sudan continue.

Field
sources reported that five drones were downed in Blue Nile State, four of which
targeted the city of Al-Damazin, while the fifth was brought down in the Balang
area east of the town of Kurmuk. The parties to the conflict have exchanged
claims of control over a number of sites in AKurmuk locality, including Jabal
Kadam, while the command of the Fourth Infantry Division of the Sudanese Armed
Forces in Al-Damazin affirmed its continued control of the site.

In
North and West Kordofan states, field sources reported airstrikes on positions
and gatherings of the Rapid Support Forces, while the Ambro area in North
Darfur witnessed clashes between the Joint Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

The
Civil Society Initiative in Blue Nile State warned of deteriorating health conditions
and a rising toll of malaria and dengue fever cases, calling for support to
health facilities and the provision of medicines and medical supplies.

The
International Organization for Migration reported that more than 99,000 people
had been displaced from the Qeissan and Kurmuk localities between January and
August of last year, as a result of the ongoing fighting.

The
Famine Early Warning Network likewise warned of the risk of famine through next
January in seven areas of North Darfur and the towns of Dilling and Kadugli in
South Kordofan, amid the continuation of the conflict, declining crop
production and disrupted population movement and trade.

For
its part, the Democratic Civil Alliance of the Forces of the Revolution
expressed its readiness to cooperate with the Quintet Mechanism in support of
efforts to halt the war and push towards a political process, while the
Secretary-General of the Arab League affirmed the importance of halting
hostilities, protecting civilians and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian
aid, in parallel with launching a Sudanese-led political process.
