Seoul, October 01 (QNA) – South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Thursday called on North Korea to help restore trust and resume dialogue, after explosions went off in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) between the two countries that left three South Korean soldiers severely wounded.
“I hope that the North joins us now on the path of restoring trust and resuming dialogue, following a long interruption,” Lee said in an address marking the country’s Armed Forces Day.
On Wednesday, South Korea bore North Korea the responsibility of the explosion that took place on Sep. 21 in the DMZ and demanded an apology from Pyongyang.
The South Korean military considers this incident a “blatant violation” of the armistice agreement between the Koreas.
Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, however, denied the country’s responsibility for the blast and went on to accuse Seoul of fabricating the findings. (QNA)
