Seoul Urges Pyongyang to Immediately Halt Ballistic Missile Launches

Seoul, October 13 (QNA) – South Korea has called on North Korea to immediately halt its ballistic missile launches after detecting multiple missiles fired towards the East Sea, prompting an emergency meeting of the presidential National Security Office.
South Korea’s Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said the National Security Office issued the call during the meeting, which was convened after the South Korean military detected the launches from the Pyongyang area on Monday.
In a written briefing, Kang said the repeated launches violated United Nations Security Council resolutions and did not help manage the current situation on the Korean Peninsula, urging Pyongyang to stop them immediately.
The meeting brought together officials from the Defense Ministry and the Joint Chiefs of Staff to review South Korea’s military readiness and security situation in light of North Korea’s recent series of missile launches.
The National Security Office also called for all necessary measures to be taken as officials assessed the latest launches’ implications for South Korea’s security.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said earlier that North Korea had fired multiple ballistic missiles towards the East Sea. At least one missile traveled more than 900 kilometers, according to the military. (QNA)
