Northeastern Badia, Jan. 7 (Petra)– Director-General of the Jordan Hejaz Railway Corporation (JHR), Zahi Ahmad Khalil, discussed with the Mayor of Umm Al-Jimal, Hassan Al-Ruhaibah, the possibility of establishing a railway line between Mafraq and the Umm Al-Jimal archaeological site.
During his visit to the Umm Al-Jimal municipality on Tuesday, accompanied by several stakeholders, Engineer Khalil announced that technical teams have been instructed to initiate a study for this promising project. He also emphasized the importance of regular trips to the Umm Al-Jimal archaeological site via the Jordan Hejaz Railway.
Previously, the Umm Al-Jimal municipality and the JHR agreed to organize domestic tourist trips from central and southern governorates to the Mafraq train station, aiming to introduce tourists to the Umm Al-Jimal site. The initiative seeks to boost domestic tourism and support local community tourism-related enterprises.
