New York, June 25 (Petra)– The United Nations Security Council
unanimously adopted Resolution 2824 on Thursday, extending the
mandate of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in
the occupied Syrian Golan for an additional six months, until
December 31, 2026.
The resolution also requested the UN Secretary-General to ensure that
the mission has the necessary capabilities and resources to carry out
its mandate safely and securely.
UNDOF, established in 1974, continues to monitor the ceasefire and
the disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel in the Golan
Heights.
