Amman, May 31 (Petra) – The Department of Statistics (DoS) announced
that the overall unemployment rate in Jordan declined to 16.1% during
the first quarter of 2026, according to its quarterly laboعr market
report released on Sunday.

The report showed that the unemployment rate among the total
population in the Kingdom, including Jordanians and non-Jordanians,
fell by 0.5 percentage points compared with the first quarter of
2025.

It marked a decline of 2.3 percentage points compared with the first
quarter of 2022.

Among Jordanians, the unemployment rate stood at 21.1% for
individuals aged 15 years and older during the first quarter of 2026,
down 0.2 percentage points from the same period in 2025 and 0.1
percentage points from the fourth quarter of 2025.

The unemployment rate among Jordanian men reached 17.9%, a decrease
of 0.7 percentage points compared with the first quarter of 2025.

The report noted that unemployment among Jordanians declined by 1.7
percentage points over the past four years, while the rate among
Jordanian men has fallen by 6.3 percentage points since 2021.

For Jordanians aged 24 years and older, the unemployment rate stood
at 17.7%, including 14.4% among men and 29.0% among women.

Among non-Jordanians aged 24 years and older, the unemployment rate
reached 5.4%, comprising 6.0% for men and 3.4% for women.

The unemployment rate among the total male population, including
Jordanians and non-Jordanians, was 14.6% during the first quarter of
2026, down 0.6 percentage points from the same quarter of 2025 but up
0.8 percentage points from the fourth quarter of 2025.

The unemployment rate among Jordanian women reached 32.7% during the
reporting period, declining by 2.1 percentage points compared with
the fourth quarter of 2025, while increasing by 1.5 percentage points
compared with the first quarter of 2025.

The report indicated that the unemployment rate among non-Jordanian
residents stood at 8.7% during the first quarter of 2026.
