Port Sudan, February 8, 2026 (SUNA) – En route back to Sudan, Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris met at Addis Ababa Airport with Sudan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU), Al-Zein Ibrahim.The meeting reviewed prospects for strengthening Sudanese-Ethiopian relations and included a briefing on the situation of the Sudanese community and Sudan’s presence within the mission’s jurisdiction. The Prime Minister commended the embassy’s role in this regard.The Prime Minister also received a report on the mission’s activities and its engagement with member states of the AU Peace and Security Council during this sensitive period. He stated that lifting the suspension of Sudan’s participation in the African Union would enhance the country’s ability to engage effectively in African forums, as a founding and leading state in the region with significant contributions to the continent’s history.BH/BH
