Canadian Prime Minister Announces 25% Tariffs on US GoodsOttawa, 4 Mar (ONA) —- Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said
that his country will respond to the tariffs announced by US
President Donald Trump with 25 per cent tariffs against American
goods.
In a statement, Trudeau said that if American tariffs come into
effect, Canada will respond with 25 per cent tariffs against 155
billion Canadian dollars worth of American goods.
He explained that the tariffs will be immediately applied to US
goods worth 30 billion Canadian dollars, while the remaining tariffs,
covering products worth 125 billion Canadian dollars, will take
effect within 21 days.
The Canadian Prime Minister affirmed that the tariffs will remain in
place until the US trade action is withdrawn. He also noted that
Canada is considering additional non-tariff measures in coordination
with provinces and territories if Washington does not halt its tariff
impositions.—- Ends/Khalid
