Authority, OQ Sign Strategic MoC to Support Innovation, Sustainable Energy

Muscat,
24 Sep 2026 (ONA) — The Research and Innovation Authority and OQ, the global
energy investment group, signed a strategic memorandum of cooperation (MoC) aimed
at activating research partnership, exchanging knowledge, and developing
advanced technologies.

The
agreement was signed on behalf of the Research and Innovation Authority by Dr.
Saif Abdullah Al Haddabi, Chairman of the Authority, and on behalf of OQ Global
Energy Investment Group by Azzan Mohammed Al Abdullatif, Chief Executive
Officer for Business Development at OQ.

The
memorandum aims to integrate national research capabilities with the needs of
the industrial sector and transform promising research outcomes into practical
solutions and applications with economic added value, in a manner that supports
sustainable development pathways.

The
memorandum of cooperation includes a package of strategic pathways encompassing
the establishment and activation of the National Center for Research and
Development in Water Fields, exchanging knowledge, data, and research outcomes,
alongside empowering national cadres and transferring knowledge through joint
innovation programs such as business incubators and accelerators of OQ Group
and the “EJAAD” platform to support industrial and research
challenges, in addition to developing future research projects in the fields of
alternative energy, biodiesel, and genetic resources, supporting
capacity-building programs and international participation for students and
researchers, and connecting national innovation centers with science and
innovation initiatives and centers belonging to OQ Group.
