Annual Camel Race Competitions to Kick Off Sunday
Muscat, 13 Jan 2026 (ONA) — Oman Camel Racing Federation held
a press conference in Muscat today on the annual race, the competitions of
which will begin next Sunday and last for four days at the Al Falaj racetrack.
Sheikh Said Saud Al Ghufaili, Chairman of Oman Camel Racing
Federation, confirmed that this race comes within the Federation’s annual
programs aimed at developing camel sports and preserving this authentic
heritage. He indicated that the organizing committee has completed all its
technical and organizational preparations to receive participants from inside
and outside the Sultanate of Oman. He clarified that the modifications to the
schedule were made to provide the best conditions for competition among various
breeds and age categories.
He added that the race, which
will be held in morning and evening rounds, will witness significant
competition among institutional camels representing Gulf camels, the Royal
Camel Corps camels, and Al Bashair camels, in addition to private camels owned
by citizens from the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC countries.
The race organizing committee has
allocated valuable prizes for all first-place winners.
