OPAZ Awards Project to Build Roads, Boost Infrastructure at Fisheries Industries Zone in Duqm
Muscat, 14 October 2026 (ONA) — The
Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) has awarded a
contract for a project to build roads and set up infrastructure at the
Fisheries Industries Zone in Duqm.
The initiative seeks to enhance the
zone’s readiness to attract industrial investments and provide road networks
and services for supporting the existing facilities and future expansions in a
manner that contributes to developing food industries and raising fisheries value-added
resources.
The project includes the establishment
of an internal road network (covering an area of 8.7 kilometres), building single-lane
roads (7.3 kilometres), dual-lane roads (1.4 kilometres), constructing two
roundabouts and installing traffic signals and road markings. The roads aim to
ease access to industrial and service sites.
The project also covers the
construction of sewerage networks, potable water networks, irrigation channels,
high-voltage and low-voltage electrical networks, street lighting systems and
telecommunications channels—all with the prime of objective of establishing an infrastructure
that would cope with the needs of investment projects and facilities in the industrial
zone.
