Cairo, April 18 (Petra) — Arab Parliament President Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi underscored the importance of strengthening Arab relations with South American nations, with a specific focus on expanding economic cooperation.
Al-Yamahi made the remarks during a meeting with Rodrigo Gamarra, President of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), on the sidelines of the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly in Istanbul.
During the discussions, Al-Yamahi called on the Mercosur Parliament to leverage its influence in support of just Arab causes. He highlighted the Palestinian cause as a priority, citing the grave developments and escalating violations committed by the Israeli occupation.
The meeting focused on establishing a framework for inter-parliamentary coordination to promote mutual interests and align positions on international platforms.
