Amman, April 20 (Petra) – Ministry of Interior officials on Monday moved to debunk a viral video circulating on social media platforms, identifying the footage as a dated recording of a fraudulent scheme involving the illegal solicitation of national identification numbers.
Ministry Spokesperson Abdul Karim Abu Dalou confirmed that the clip, which depicts a suspect claiming he can bypass government protocols to issue official documentation in exchange for cash, was originally broadcast from outside the Kingdom in December 2024.
Law enforcement records indicate that a formal bulletin was issued for the suspect’s apprehension on December 22, 2024, shortly after the initial investigation was launched.
Police successfully tracked and arrested the individual following the 2024 warrant. The suspect, who investigators describe as a “repeat offender” with a documented criminal history of similar activities, was subsequently processed and referred to the Amman Public Prosecutor.
Authorities confirmed the suspect is currently behind bars, serving his court-ordered sentence at the Muwaqqar Correctional and Rehabilitation Center.
