Amman, May 20 (Petra) — A Jordanian student team secured first place
at the Arab level and third place globally in artificial intelligence
during the Codeavour 7.0 competition held in Jakarta, highlighting
the growing presence of Jordanian youth in international technology
and innovation platforms.

The “LifeSense” team from Latin Patriarchate Secondary School –
Al-Wasiyah also received the “Outstanding Merit” award at the
competition, which brought together teams from countries around the
world.

The team, made up of first secondary grade students, developed a
healthcare-focused project using artificial intelligence and Internet
of Things technologies to support kidney failure patients through
continuous monitoring of vital indicators and early prediction of
health complications.

Team member Shaas Jihad Al-Habashneh said the project evolved from a
simple scientific idea into a startup initiative aimed at improving
healthcare monitoring and reducing medical risks for patients
undergoing dialysis treatment.

He explained that the team began work on the project in September
2025 before winning a gold medal at the Arab level in the open
projects category among more than 1,100 projects involving over
15,000 students from across the Arab world.

The achievement qualified the team for the global finals, where it
secured third place internationally.

Al-Habashneh said the success represents a strong motivation to
continue developing the project and expanding its future applications
within the healthcare sector.

Student Sarah Bashar Al-Rashdan said the project was inspired by
challenges facing kidney failure patients, particularly during
periods between dialysis sessions when continuous medical supervision
becomes limited.

She explained that the system relies on a wearable smart device
capable of measuring heart rate, oxygen levels and body temperature
before analyzing the data using artificial intelligence to detect
early health changes and send immediate alerts when intervention may
be required.

Meanwhile, student Malak Mubarak Al-Habashneh said participation in
the global finals provided the team with valuable experience in
presenting projects before international judging panels and enhanced
their expertise in technology and scientific research.

She added that the team plans to continue developing the project and
expanding its capabilities in the coming period.

The students also praised the support provided by Latin Patriarchate
Secondary School – Al-Wasiyah and its administration in encouraging
innovation and supporting student excellence.

In related remarks, lawyer and academic Jihad Al-Habashneh said the
achievement reflects the importance of investing in youth talent and
providing supportive environments that enable students to transform
innovative ideas into globally competitive projects.

He added that the accomplishment sends a positive message about the
ability of Jordanian youth to compete successfully in international
scientific and technological fields.
