Amman, June 27 (Petra) — Jordan will be affected by a relatively
warm air mass starting Sunday, causing a gradual and slight rise in
temperatures to about two to three degrees Celsius above seasonal
averages, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said on
Saturday.

Raed Al Khattab, JMD director, said the weather will be relatively
hot across most of the kingdom, while hotter conditions are expected
in the Badia desert regions, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and
Aqaba. Periodic northwesterly winds will help temper the heat,
followed by moderate nighttime temperatures in most areas.

Maximum daytime temperatures in the capital, Amman, are expected to
range between 33 C and 35 C. Temperatures will reach between 37 C and
38 C in the desert areas particularly the northeastern Badia and
could touch 40 C in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

Al Khattab noted that the normal average maximum temperature for
Amman during this time of year is around 32 C, meaning the expected
increase remains within normal summer limits. Current numerical
weather models indicate the temperature spike will be temporary, with
conditions projected to return to standard summer averages by the end
of the week.

The department advised citizens, especially those in lowland and
desert regions, to avoid direct sunlight during midday hours, drink
plenty of fluids, and ensure that children or flammable materials are
not left inside sealed vehicles.
