Irbid, June 27 (Petra) — Irbid’s Yarmouk Water Company temporarily
suspended water supply to several areas in the districts of Ramtha
and Kufranja after contractors accidentally ruptured main pipelines
during infrastructure excavation work, the company said on Saturday.

The state-owned utility said technical crews were working around the
clock to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore services as
quickly as possible.

In Ramtha, an external contractor damaged a key transmission line
during site excavations, forcing an emergency shutdown to prevent
further system damage. The company stated that the resulting
suspension has affected the areas of Dabbat Nimr and parts of the
northern district.

In a separate incident in Kufranja, excavation work for the widening
of the Wadi Al-Tawahin road led to breaches in two separate main
lines, measuring 300 mm and 125 mm in diameter, respectively. Teams
isolated the damaged pipes to mitigate water loss while repairs
commenced under official supervision.

Yarmouk Water Company said it would pursue all necessary legal and
administrative actions against the responsible contractors under
prevailing regulations. Penalties will include holding the third
parties financially liable for the cost of wasted water and all
consequential network damages.

The utility apologized to residents in the affected regions for the
service disruption, advising customers that inquiries or complaints
could be directed to the unified national call center.
