Madaba, June 30 (Petra) — Health Minister Ibrahim Bdour and
Investment Minister Tariq Abu Ghazaleh on Tuesday inspected progress
on the new Madaba Hospital project, Jordan’s first government
hospital to be developed through a public-private partnership (PPP)
model.

The Madaba Hospital project is one of the Kingdom’s flagship
healthcare infrastructure projects. Located in the Ma’in area, it
will have a built-up area of more than 54,000 square meters and an
initial capacity of 260 beds, expandable to 360 beds to accommodate
future population growth and increasing healthcare demand in Madaba
Governorate and neighboring areas.

Once completed, the hospital will feature a comprehensive range of
medical, diagnostic, and treatment services, including emergency,
operating theaters, intensive care units, outpatient clinics,
obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, dialysis, radiology,
laboratories, and pharmacy services, in addition to supporting
medical and administrative facilities. The facility is designed to
facilitate access to healthcare services while achieving high
operational efficiency.

The project is also expected to create hundreds of direct and
indirect jobs and attract qualified medical, nursing, technical, and
administrative professionals, supporting local economic development,
strengthening the healthcare sector, and improving the quality of
healthcare services.

The ministers reviewed construction progress and implementation
phases, with the first phase completed and preparations underway to
begin the second phase in the coming days.

According to a statement, the ministers received a briefing on the
implementation timeline and upcoming phases to ensure completion of
the new facility, which will be among the Kingdom’s largest green
buildings. The hospital is being developed in line with the latest
international standards to deliver advanced medical care and meet the
current and future healthcare needs of residents in Madaba
Governorate and neighboring areas.

Bdour said the initiative marks a strategic step in advancing the
Kingdom’s healthcare sector and will significantly enhance the
delivery of medical services. He added that the hospital will
strengthen the Ministry of Health’s capacity while improving the
quality and efficiency of care.

He noted that the new facility will help reduce pressure on existing
hospitals by providing an integrated treatment environment. He added
that it reflects the government’s commitment to expanding access to
comprehensive, specialized healthcare and promoting a more equitable
distribution of services across the Kingdom, ultimately improving
citizens’ well-being.

For his part, Abu Ghazaleh said the hospital embodies the
government’s vision of using investment to enhance public services
and represents a new phase in implementing government infrastructure
through public-private partnerships.

He said the government is committed to ensuring the success of this
pioneering model, paving the way for similar initiatives across the
Kingdom that will strengthen public service delivery while generating
sustainable economic and social returns.

Abu Ghazaleh added that the initiative demonstrates how investment
can directly improve citizens’ lives by expanding access to advanced
healthcare, creating employment opportunities for Madaba residents,
and supporting local development.
