Jordan, Spain talk on deepening legal, judicial partnership

Amman, June 30 (Petra) – Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni on
Tuesday met with Spanish Ambassador to Jordan José Luis Pardo Cuerdo
to discuss cooperation in legal and judicial areas.

Talhouni called for continued coordination to advance mutual
interests and reinforce the rule of law and the justice sector.

The meeting reviewed existing bilateral frameworks, including
memoranda of understanding and agreements on extradition, and
multilateral treaties. Discussions also covered mutual legal
assistance requests and extradition procedures.

Discussions covered the “Improving Access to Juvenile Justice in
Jordan” project funded by the Spanish Agency for International
Development Cooperation. Designed to overhaul youth justice services,
the project implements remote court hearings for care facilities,
builds stronger digital connections with the Ministry of Social
Development, and delivers faster, more efficient judicial care for
minors.
