Los Angeles, July 03 (QNA) – Spain national football team advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating the Austrian national football team 3-0 today in their Round of 32 match at Los Angeles Stadium.
Spain’s three goals were scored by Mikel Oyarzabal, who netted twice in the 36th and 89th minutes, and Pedro Porro in the 66th minute.
The 2010 World Cup champions had little difficulty asserting their superiority, benefiting from a well-organized team performance and the individual quality of players, including Lamine Yamal, Rodrigo, Marc Cucurella, and Alex Baena.
Spain took a 1-0 lead into halftime and maintained the same tempo after the break, adding two more goals to secure a comfortable place in the Round of 16.
Austria, meanwhile, struggled to create clear chances against Spain’s solid defense and goalkeeper Unai Simon, who denied the individual efforts led by striker Marko Arnautovic.
Spain will now face the winner of the later Round of 32 match between Croatia and Portugal. (QNA)
