Amman, July 4 (Petra) – Staff from the the northern region branch of
the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) seized 1,212
cans of non-compliant engine oils during market inspections conducted
as part of its efforts to ensure that products in circulation conform
to approved technical standards.

In a statement to “Petra,” the JSMO said the seized items included
336 containers of engine oil with a similar trademark for a
well-known and established brand, in addition to 876 containers of
engine oil that did not meet technical specifications.

The organization noted this particular establishment had repeatedly
committed violations.

The JSMO confirmed it is completing the legal procedures against the
breaching entity and the seized products, in accordance with the
Standards and Metrology Law No. (22) of 2000 and its amendments, and
the provisions of applicable legislation, to ensure consumer
protection and enhance oversight over products in the market.

Additionally, JSMO urged consumers to purchase products from licensed
and reputable stores, ensure the mandatory labeling is present on the
packaging, and retain their purchase receipts to safeguard their
rights and allow for product traceability if needed.

JSMO also emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation in
reporting any suspected non-compliant products or violations through
the complaints hotline and WhatsApp (065301243), the organizations’
social media pages, the ” Bikhedmatkom-AT Your Service” platform, and
the “Sanad” application.

On its impact, JSMO noted this cooperation contributes to enhanced
market oversight and consumer protection.
