Cairo, July 7 (Petra) – Jordan opened an honorary consulate in
Alexandria on Monday, boosting diplomatic ties with Egypt and
expanding consular support for Jordanians there.

Amjad Adaileh, Jordan’s Ambassador to Egypt, and Ayman Ateyya,
Alexandria Governor, inaugurated the consulate.

Adaileh and Ateyya officially certified Boraq Abadi as Jordan’s
Honorary Consul in Alexandria. The newly established office will
support the local Jordanian community by providing document
authentication and other consular services.

The event also showcased Jordan’s cultural and tourism identity
through promotional videos, traditional music, and Jordanian students
from Alexandria University wearing traditional dress.

Adaileh said the opening coincides with the 80th anniversary of
Jordan-Egypt diplomatic relations, describing the ties between the
two countries as a long-standing example of Arab cooperation.

He said the new consulate showcases Jordan’s commitment to
strengthening its diplomatic presence in Egypt, improving services
for Jordanian residents, students, investors, and visitors, while
promoting investment, trade, tourism, and broader cooperation with
institutions in Alexandria.

Ateyya said the honorary consulate marks another step in deepening
the historic relationship between the two countries, helping expand
trade, investment, culture, tourism, and other sectors.

Abadi said the consulate will work closely with Egyptian authorities
to support Jordanian citizens and help create new opportunities for
cooperation in economic, educational, investment, and tourism fields,
noting that Alexandria is home to a large Jordanian community.
