Irbid, July 12 (Petra) — Hani Abu Hassan, Chairman of the Irbid
Chamber of Industry, confirmed that the recent Partnership Council
meeting strongly reflects the deep cooperation between the private
and public sectors.

Abu Hassan told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that these continuous
meetings consistently yield practical decisions and recommendations
that benefit investors and industrialists. He noted that such
cooperation helps overcome challenges facing manufacturers, thereby
boosting the competitiveness of national industries and the overall
investment climate.

During the Partnership Council meeting held by the Jordan Customs
Department, which was attended by the department’s Director General,
Ahmad Al-Akalik, and private sector representatives, discussions
focused on current industrial needs. The attendees reviewed plans to
modernize customs procedures to save time and effort for investors
while accelerating cross-border trade.

Abu Hassan called for increasing customs personnel to streamline
procedures for travelers and traders, particularly at the Jaber
border crossing. He emphasized that expanding the workforce would
speed up transactions for industrialists, facilitate the flow of
goods, and positively impact national economic activity by ensuring
smoother import and export operations.

He added that industrialists highly appreciate the collaborative
approach taken by the Customs Department in maintaining an open
dialogue with the private sector to reach practical solutions for
industrial challenges.

For his part, Al-Akalik stated that the department is steadily
developing its electronic services and launching a comprehensive,
modernized customs system designed to improve the business
environment and attract further investment.
