Jordan, EU discuss cooperation on youth empowerment programs

Amman, July 14 (Petra) — Minister of Youth Raed Adwan met on Tuesday
with the European Union Ambassador to Jordan, Pierre-Christophe
Chatzisavas, to discuss enhancing cooperation on youth empowerment
and skills development programs.

During the meeting, Adwan emphasized the Ministry of Youth’s
commitment to strengthening its partnership with the EU. He said this
collaboration aligns with royal directives aimed at empowering young
people and increasing their active participation in public life.

Adwan outlined the ministry’s current initiatives, which include
modernizing local youth centers, drafting the National Youth Strategy
for 2026-2030, and implementing specialized training programs. He
also highlighted the national action plan to implement UN Security
Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security, alongside
various ministry initiatives in volunteering, entrepreneurship,
innovation, and the Al-Hussein youth camps.

For his part, Chatzisavas praised the strong relations between Jordan
and the EU, reaffirming the bloc’s eagerness to partner with the
ministry and support the upcoming National Youth Strategy. He
commended the ministry’s ongoing initiatives to foster youth
development and expand their role in society.

Both sides stressed the importance of expanding the existing
partnership to serve national priorities for youth development.
