Jerash, July 14 (Petra) — The Governor of Jerash, Malik Khreisat, on
Tuesday confirmed that all executive, security, and service agencies
in the governorate are fully prepared to host the upcoming edition of
the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts.

Khreisat told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that direct coordination
with the festival’s management is ongoing to deliver an exceptional
edition that reflects Jordan’s cultural and tourism status on the
global map.

The governorate has developed an integrated, rigorous plan supervised
by specialized committees operating around the clock to ensure
top-tier organization, safety, and comfort for local and
international visitors.

Khreisat explained that local authorities have coordinated with the
Public Security Directorate and the Traffic Department to implement a
smart traffic plan aimed at preventing congestion around the Jerash
Archaeological Site. The plan includes preparing spacious, secure,
and free parking lots capable of accommodating thousands of vehicles,
alongside deploying a fleet of free shuttle buses to transport
visitors from external lots to the main gates. Alternative routes
will also be designated for cargo trucks to maintain smooth traffic
flow.

Additionally, the Greater Jerash Municipality, along with public
works, water, electricity, and health directorates, has worked
collaboratively to rehabilitate the archaeological site and its
surroundings. They completed comprehensive maintenance on lighting
networks, secured backup power generators, intensified cleanliness
campaigns, and set up equipped medical points and mobile clinics
operated by the Civil Defense and health directorates to handle
emergencies.

To support the local community, the governorate has allocated free
spaces in the main plaza of the site for charitable societies, local
artisans, and productive kitchens to market their handmade crafts and
traditional foods. Khreizat added that the festival will generate
numerous temporary job opportunities for local youth in
organizational, guiding, and supporting service roles.
