Amman, July 19 (Petra) — The technical committee overseeing the $1
billion expansion of the Jordan India Fertilizer Company (JIFCO) on
Sunday reviewed implementation plans and upcoming phases of the
project, which is expected to increase annual consumption of
Jordanian phosphate by more than 2 million metric tons.

Representatives of international companies specializing in sulfuric
and phosphoric acid plant expansions presented the project’s
engineering and technical designs, implementation timetable, and
mechanisms for enhancing cooperation and monitoring progress. The
expansion aims to increase the JIFCO’s production efficiency and meet
growing global demand for phosphate fertilizers.

Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Chairperson Mohammad Thneibat
underlined the JPMC’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with
its Indian partners and mobilizing all available resources to
implement the expansion in accordance with the highest international
standards.

Indian Ambassador to Jordan Manish Chauhan praised the efforts of the
JPMC, the JIFCO, and their joint technical teams to advance the
project. He also underscored India’s commitment to expanding economic
and investment cooperation with Jordan in support of both countries’
shared interests.

The meeting also underscored the JIFCO’s strategic importance as a
successful investment reflecting the depth of Jordanian-Indian
relations and its vital role in supporting the fertilizer and mining
industries.
