Amman, July 21 (Petra) — The Eastern Military Zone early Tuesday
foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using
guided balloons along one of its operational frontiers within its
area of responsibility.
The balloons were detected by Border Guard units, which intercepted
and brought them down, together with their cargo, inside Jordanian
territory. The operation was conducted in coordination with the
relevant security and military authorities and the Anti-Narcotics
Department.
The seized narcotics were referred to the competent authorities for
the necessary legal action.
The Jordanian Armed Forces–Arab Army continue to employ all available
capabilities and resources to confront all forms of infiltration and
smuggling attempts, safeguarding the security and stability of the
Kingdom.
