JPMC: $1 Billion JIFCO Expansion Among Jordan’s Largest Fertilizer Investments

Amman, July 22 (Petra) — The planned expansion of the Jordan India
Fertilizer Company (JIFCO), valued at about $1 billion, is one of the
largest industrial investments in Jordan’s fertilizer sector, said
Abdel Wahab Rowad, chief executive officer of Jordan Phosphate Mines
Company.

In a press statement, Rowad, who also chairs the project’s technical
committee, pointed out that the project reflects the company’s
strategic approach to maximizing the added value of Jordanian
phosphate and increasing the contribution of downstream industries to
the national economy.

Rowad said the technical committee continues to hold meetings with
experts and representatives of international companies specializing
in the construction and expansion of sulfuric acid and phosphoric
acid plants.

He said the committee reviewed engineering and technical designs, the
implementation schedule, working methodology and requirements for
upcoming phases to ensure the project is executed in line with the
highest international standards and global best practices.

Rowad said the expansion is expected to increase the JIFCO’s
phosphoric acid production capacity to 1 million tons annually while
boosting output of phosphate fertilizers and other value-added
products, strengthening the competitiveness of Jordanian exports and
meeting growing global demand for fertilizers.

He added that the project will increase annual consumption of
Jordanian phosphate by more than 2 million tons, supporting mining
and production activities, stimulating supply chains and logistics
services, and generating broader economic benefits across industries
linked to the mining sector.

He said the expansion also aligns with the Economic Modernization
Vision by transforming raw phosphate into value-added downstream
products.

Rowad stressed that the technical committee’s ongoing meetings are
focused on ensuring thorough engineering and technical preparation to
facilitate efficient implementation throughout all phases of the
project while promoting operational efficiency, sustainability, and
long-term investment success.

He said the project represents a model for industrial and investment
partnerships that maximize the value of Jordan’s natural resources,
reinforce the Kingdom’s position as a regional hub for phosphate
fertilizer production, support exports, attract quality investments,
and advance economic development.
