Amman, July 23 (Petra) — The Chinese Embassy in Amman held a
reception on Wednesday evening to mark the 99th anniversary of the
founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), attended by a
number of military and civilian officials, diplomats, journalists,
and invited guests.
Chinese Defense Attaché to Jordan Senior Colonel Li Pengfei praised
Jordan’s role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II as
a factor of stability in the Middle East, highlighting the Kingdom’s
positive and constructive efforts in addressing regional issues,
particularly the Palestinian cause.
Li said China is ready to enhance communication and coordination with
Jordan to jointly safeguard regional peace, stability and
development, describing Jordan as a sincere friend and strategic
partner.
On the Palestinian question, he stressed that there is only one
equitable and widely recognized solution, which is the two-State
solution, adding that any other arrangements or new mechanisms must
reinforce rather than undermine the two-State solution.
He reaffirmed that China will continue to support Palestine’s just
cause of pursuing legitimate national rights, and facilitate
international efforts to restore justice to the Palestinian people.
Addressing regional and international developments, Li said the world
is witnessing accelerating changes and a turbulent international
environment, expressing concern over continued tensions in the Middle
East.
He said China opposes any actions that infringe upon sovereignty,
security and territorial integrity of other countries, stressing that
military conflicts are not the solution to problems, and the
escalation of regional situations is not in the common interests of
the international community.
Li outlined China’s approach based on peaceful development,
strengthening international solidarity, rejecting the use of force,
and working toward building a community with a shared future for
humanity. He said China will always be a force for peace, stability
and progress in the world.
