Southern Military Zone Foils Narcotics Smuggling Attempt Using Guided Balloons

AMMAN, July 26 (Petra) — Border Guard units within the Southern
Military Zone on Sunday dawn intercepted and foiled an attempt to
smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using guided balloons along its
area of responsibility.

The military units, operating in coordination with military
intelligence, security agencies, and the Anti-Narcotics Department
(AND), detected the air-borne balloons, intercepted them, and brought
them down inside Jordanian territory along with their illicit cargo.

The seized narcotics were subsequently handed over to the competent
legal authorities for further administrative and legal action.

The Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) reiterated its commitment to
leveraging all available operational and technological capabilities
to counter infiltration and smuggling attempts, safeguarding the
Kingdom’s security and territorial stability.
