Amman, Aug. 2 (Petra) — The Kingdom will remain under the grip of an
intense heatwave on Sunday, with temperatures hovering 4 to 5 degrees
Celsius above seasonal averages, according to the Jordan
Meteorological Department (JMD).

Hot weather is expected to dominate most regions, while sweltering
conditions will persist in the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead
Sea, and Aqaba. Winds will be moderate northwesterly, picking up
periodically in the evening.

In its daily update, the JMD warned of potential reduced horizontal
visibility due to dust in desert areas. The department advised the
public to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak
hours, refrain from lighting fires in forested areas and open spaces,
and never leave children or elderly individuals inside closed
vehicles.

Similar hot conditions will continue through Monday and Tuesday
across most regions, remaining extremely hot in the Badia, the Jordan
Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with moderate northwesterly winds
gusting on occasion.

By Wednesday, the effect of the heatwave is expected to recede
slightly. Relatively hot weather will prevail over most regions,
while high temperatures will continue in the Badia, the Jordan
Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba under moderate northwesterly winds.

East Amman: 39C / 25C
West Amman: 37C / 23C
Badia Regions: 42 C / 23 C
Northern Jordan Valley: 43C / 26C
Dead Sea: 44C / 27C
Aqaba: 43C / 29C
