Steadies Near One‑Month High as Markets Await Fed Decision
Singapore, 29
Jul 2026 (ONA) — The dollar held steady near a one‑month high today,
supported by safe‑haven flows as hostilities resumed in the Middle East, while
traders awaited a key Federal Reserve rate decision later today.
Currency moves
were largely muted in early Asian trading, with investors on the sidelines
ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee’s decision. Markets are pricing in a
33 percent probability of a 25‑basis‑point hike.
The dollar’s
strength kept the euro at a one‑month low of $1.1386, down 0.3 percent since
the start of the month, while sterling eased 0.06 percent to $1.3282, near its
weakest since 1 July.
The dollar
index steadied at 101.43, edging higher against the yen to 163.88, keeping
pressure on the Japanese currency, which remains near 40‑year lows.
The Australian
dollar was little changed at $0.6973 ahead of domestic inflation data due later
today, while the New Zealand dollar slipped 0.09 percent to $0.5782.
