Tanzania Flights to Muscat Officially Inaugurated

Muscat,
28 July 2026 (ONA) — Oman Airports celebrated today the official inauguration
of the direct flights of Air Tanzania, connecting Julius Nyerere International
Airport in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Muscat International
Airport in the Sultanate of Oman.

Peter Rudolf Ulanga, Chief Executive Officer of Air Tanzania, stated that the
inauguration of flights between Tanzania and Oman represents a highly
significant development for the company. It also enhances the existing
cooperation between the two countries, explaining that the addition of this air
link will contribute to increasing passenger traffic between Oman and Tanzania.

He
added in a statement to journalists that the existence of direct flights
between the two countries will provide an opportunity to attract Omani visitors
to Tanzania. He pointed out the diverse tourism elements that Tanzania boasts,
starting from Zanzibar to the mainland, which hosts many sites with cultural
and historical heritage linked to Omani-Tanzanian relations.

He
mentioned that the demand for flights is witnessing a positive response from
travelers from Muscat to Tanzania, and from there to other cities within the
country and neighboring countries. He affirmed that this route represents a
promising opportunity and a sustainable path, given the deep cultural and
historical ties between Tanzania and the Sultanate of Oman.

On
his part, Saud Abdulaziz Al Azizi, Head of Corporate Support at Oman Airports,
explained that Air Tanzania will operate three direct flights per week between
Muscat International Airport and the United Republic of Tanzania. He pointed
out that this is in line with Oman Airports’ orientations to add a number of
flights and destinations to the airports of the Sultanate of Oman, adding that
this connection will also enhance the economic and social fields between the
two countries.

He
added in a press statement that the launch of direct flights by Air Tanzania
between Muscat and Dar es Salaam is a new route that bridges the distances
between the GCC countries and East Africa.

The
inauguration of flights between Tanzania and the Sultanate of Oman enhances the
deep-rooted historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United
Republic of Tanzania. It opens new horizons in the fields of tourism, trade,
investment, and exchange between the two peoples. It also affirms the position
of Muscat International Airport as a regional gateway connecting two markets
with promising potential.
