Amman, August 6 (Petra) – The Lower House Palestine Committee stated
on Thursday that His Majesty King Abdullah II’s recent meeting with
the Arab Ministerial Committee showcases the Kingdom’s “unwavering
stance” in protecting Jerusalem and its holy sites.

The committee stated that King Abdullah II’s call for a unified Arab
and Islamic front sends an “unmistakable message” to the
international community that safeguarding Jerusalem’s historical and
legal status is a global duty demanding decisive action.

The committee expressed support for the meeting’s final communiqué,
emphasizing that the historical Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic
and Christian holy sites remains the primary guarantee for preserving
Jerusalem’s identity. It highlighted Jordan’s ongoing efforts under
King Abdullah II to defend the holy city against continuous Israeli
violations of international law at international forums.

Firmly rejecting all Israeli attempts to alter the status quo, the
committee reiterated that Israel holds “no sovereignty over
Jerusalem.” It emphasized that the Jordan-administered Jerusalem Waqf
and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department retains exclusive authority to
manage the mosque’s affairs and regulate access.

The committee called for urgent Arab and international parliamentary
action to oppose plans aimed at the temporal or spatial division of
Al-Aqsa Mosque and to expose ongoing violations against the city’s
sanctuaries.
