Amman, Aug. 9 (Petra) — Jordan on Sunday welcomed a Security Council
statement issued on August 7 condemning missile attacks launched by
the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia since July 13, as well as
attacks targeting commercial vessels since July 22.
The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs stressed the
importance of the statement, which underscored the need to comply
with international law and relevant Security Council resolutions,
foremost among them Resolution 2216, and rejected acts that threaten
regional security and freedom of maritime navigation.
The ministry reiterated Jordan’s solidarity with and unwavering
support for Saudi Arabia, as well as its support for all measures the
Kingdom takes to protect its security, sovereignty, stability, and
the safety of its citizens and residents.
